I come from a migrant family in Macau—my father is Vietnamese, and my mother is from Guangzhou, a city in southern China. After finishing high school, I moved to Taiwan and earned a degree in political science and sociology from National Taiwan University, followed by a master’s in sociology from National Tsing Hua University. During my time in Taipei, I met my partner and eventually became a Taiwanese citizen. In 2018, I began my Ph.D. in sociology and demography at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
As both a migrant and a father of two, I’m deeply interested in how family-related attitudes and behaviors are passed down across generations in migrant families.
Outside of academia, I’m a lifelong Manchester United supporter. Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a professional football (soccer) player!
